2008 NFL Draft-Part 3
I think that a secret internal memo was sent to Mel, Mort, Keyshawn and Steve, which told them not to laugh at anything Chris Berman says. When Jerod Mayo went at 10 to NE, Berman made a comment about Patriots’ opponents getting penalized for “holding the Mayo.” He paused, looked at his tablemates…and nothing. No response. It’s been awkward like this all day.
Steve Young actually made a great observation. He just mentioned that Jon Kitna of the Detroit Lions is the best QB in the NFC North. When you think about it, he’s absolutely right. The other QB’s are Rex Grossman, Tarvaris Jackson and Aaron Rodgers. Weird.
The Chiefs just traded up for Branden Albert. That means they’ve gotten Glenn Dorsey and Albert. Good draft for the Chiefs.
Berman just said that it’s the first time in ten years that the Cardinals are picking after the first hour of the draft. Is it funny that I consider that a sign of improvement?
Steve and Keyshawn get into an argument over who the Cardinals should draft. Steve just causes tension at the table. Keyshawn, though, is holding his own. I’m impressed with his knowledge and articulate speech.
The Cardinals pick Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a CB out of Tennessee State, which means that Keyshawn was right and Steve was wrong. I’m waiting for Steve to admit that. Still waiting…
This “Fan’s Grade” thing is ridiculous. Can ESPN just get rid of it? Gosder Cherilus, the pick at 17, was just given a “Fan’s Grade” of F. By the way, I just noticed something. It’s called “Fan’s Grade,” as in one fan, not Fans’ Grade, which would imply all of the fans. Is one fan getting the job of grading on behalf of the rest of us?
The Ravens go from 8 to 26 to 18. Think their war room is a little busy? Their pick is Joe Flacco, a QB out of Delaware. Delaware!
Herbstreit just offended Jaws by saying that most NFL QB’s are average, and that the QB’s getting drafted can fit in with that group because it’s not hard to do. At least, that’s a paraphrase of what he said. Anyway, they really went at it with Tirico breaking it up.
Roger Goodell is trying to make an announcement with some military people behind him. It’s obvious that he’s trying to make some kind of important statement. Unfortunately, we can’t hear it because Steve and Keyshawn won’t shut up. Less is more sometimes, fellas.
