Thanksgiving Weekend

It’s a big holiday weekend.  I will spend it the same way many of you will.  Lots of family time and football.  And maybe not in that order.
I will be doing something I haven’t done in eight months.  I will take the holiday weekend off.  I have left you in good hands, though.  I posted [...]

Where Does Utah Fit Into All This?

In the midst of the BCS controversy sits Utah.  While everyone discusses the Big 12 South, USC’s failure to impress and the strength of the SEC, Utah cruises along, undefeated, dominant.  Currently, the Utes are ranked 6th in the BCS standings.  They are almost guaranteed an at-large berth in the BCS.
They are one of four [...]

The Big 12 South

With Oklahoma’s destruction of Texas Tech, the Big 12 South is causing a huge headache for BCS fans.  The division is in a three-way tie.  Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech are 6-1 in the conference and 10-1 overall.  Oklahoma beat Texas Tech.  Texas Tech beat Texas.  Texas beat Oklahoma.
It can’t get anymore tied than that.
There [...]

Saturday’s Best Game That You Didn’t See

Oregon State has caught my eye in recent weeks.  That’s because they are in position to win the Pac-10.  It’s the story ESPN wants to go away.  They are big Oregon State haters right now.  If USC wins the Pac-10, then it will be USC vs. Penn State in the Rose Bowl, which is televised [...]

A Saturday of Surprises

It was a Saturday of surprises in college football, not because there were a lot of upsets, but because there were some teams winning by large margins hoping to impress the pollsters.  I have listed Saturday’s surprises below.

Penn State’s dominance of Michigan State was a surprise, although Ohio State’s win earlier in the day ensured [...]

What Soccer and the NFL Have in Common

People are still talking about the tie game last week between the Bengals and Eagles.  Yes, it was embarrassing for the Eagles to end in a tie with Cincinnati.  No one would care anymore, though, if it wasn’t for Donovan McNabb.  In his postgame press conference, he admitted that he didn’t know a tie was [...]

College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon: Take Two

I wrote on Wednesday about the college basketball marathon on ESPN and ESPN2, but I neglected one very important thing.  I told you that I had seen a little bit of every game, which is true.  I saw the start of the UAB-Arizona game, but I have not yet seen the end.  Not until now.  [...]

The Weekend’s Top 10

We have had big weekends and exciting games throughout this college football season.  Nothing, though, compares to what is coming this weekend.  Below is my breakdown of important games by conference.  The list of important games is large, which means lots of great football.
ACC: Miami vs. Georgia Tech: This game will determine first place in [...]

The College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon

Nice job, ESPN.  You sucked me into your gimmick.  The 23-hour college hoops tip-off marathon was yesterday and I watched a little bit of every game.  For the most part, the games were not very good, but I was able to make a few observations that I will share with you.

For those of you who [...]

Which Overtime Is Better?

With the Eagles-Bengals game ending in a tie, there is renewed debate on the NFL’s overtime system.  Do you like the NFL’s overtime system better than the college game’s version?  There are pros and cons for both.
NFL Overtime - Pro:  Drama.  Because it is sudden death, the first score wins.  That makes overtime very dramatic.
NFL [...]
